Barefoot Training Specialist® Training Beyond “Barefoot”

After wrapping up yet another incredible Barefoot Education TourI find myself in a state of happiness as I reflect on the past several days.   Each workshop I teach and each lecture I give my passion for the science of barefoot training and from the ground up movement increases.

In early 2012 when I taught the first-ever Barefoot Training Specialist® course never in a million years would I think the Certification Program would have grown to where it is today.   I never thought that the hunger for understanding the foot & ankle, footwear and surfaces would reach a global level – but it has!

With courses now being taught in 21 countries and on almost every continent the number of Certified Barefoot Training Specialist® has reached to over 1,000!    Regardless of country, religion or educational background there is a unified belief that “barefoot” is more than simply a workout without shoes.  “Barefoot” is a lifestyle.

A “barefoot” lifestyle is not simply to be without shoes but rather is one in which there is an appreciation for the ground on which we move.  There is an appreciation for impact forces and the way in which footwear and surfaces alter our relationship with this valuable energy source.   There is an appreciation for the neuromuscular system and how our plantar foot plays a critical role in reflexive stability.
